Sharad Sharma is co-founder and CEO of BrandSigma. Before that, Sharad was the CEO of Yahoo! India R&D and was responsible for emerging markets engineering and several key global products. His 23+ years of experience in internet, software and wireless sectors involves a turnaround (of VERITAS India ops), a startup, Teltier (now part of Cisco), and an intrapreneurial setup of the AT&T / Lucent R&D centers in India.Sharad is an evangelist for developing technology product businesses in India and leads in efforts to nurture the ecosystem. He was the chair of the NASSCOM Product Forum and is the co-founder of the iSpirt think-tank. He actively mentors startups, and speaks frequently on industry issues. Peter Yorke is founder and CEO of Yorke Communications Private Limited, an organization that builds content as a platform for technical and marketing communication. In the last five years of its existence, Yorke Communications has developed 2,000 plus collateral for its clients. An early stage technical writer in TCS and later Wipro, Peter was one of the founder members of the STC India Chapter.Peter has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Bombay and a Diploma in Journalism from the Bombay College of Journalism. Once a music critic for The Daily in Bombay, Peter keeps his cool with his love for Western Classical Music, and a sense of humor that diffuses the most difficult of situations.
Aakanksha Singh has two years of experience as a Technical communicator and is presently leading the Writers team at Red Hat, Pune. Her contributions towards Opensource technology involve documenting for Jboss Portal Platform using Publican and DocBook. Previously, she has completed an internship in Technical Writing from Technowrites and worked on documentation projects ranging from developing instructor based training material to documenting developer guides. Prior to transitioning into the field of Technical writing, she worked as a Software Programmer for Embedded systems and developed a kernel based debugging solution based on the Symbian operating system for Nokia’s handheld devices for nearly four years. She sometimes scribbles at World of a Technical Writer. Abigail Samuel is an information developer with IBM India. She has been in the technical communication field for the past 11 years. She has an overall varied work experience of 23 years that includes project management, research, writing, instructional design, and training. Currently, she has end-to-end responsibility for the design, planning, development, and delivery of documentation for products in the security domain. In parallel, she also leads a team of information developers who are migrating legacy documentation to DITA.
Alka Acharya is an information developer currently leading an ID team for an IBM Storage product. She has an overall experience of over ten years in the IT industry with writing experience of more than eight years. She has about two and a half years of experience of working on eLearning projects and the remaining writing experience is on technical writing projects. She also leads a team that has successfully migrated projects to DITA at IBM. Faraaz Mohiuddin has been an instructional designer for more than five years. Faraaz has been involved with various learning and development projects in different content areas, catering to learning requirements of varied audience groups. He believes that E-learning can contribute immensely in developing the next generation of learning and development tools that will have measurable impact in talent development and business performance. Most of his professional time has been spent in the NGO sector. He is currently working in his first corporate job – with ADP. He likes travelling, writing, and football. At ADP, he shares his insights with the Information Developers Interest Group. He also solves many information communication challenges in his day-to-day work.
Ganesh Subramanian is Engineering Director at Unisys Global Services India for Engineering Services organization that includes Information Development and Technical Infrastructure Management in the portfolio. He led this initiative and would be sharing the experience. Girish Mehta in his more than 10 years of experience as a tech-writer has written across various domains, such as Insurance, telecom, and digital-media software. He specializes in social media and image editing. He likes to mimic people and is an aspiring standup comedian.
Gururaj B.S. has over 15 years of experience in technical communication. He is working at Oracle, Bangalore as a Director, Documentation. At Oracle, he is leading the cloud-operations documentation efforts. His team of technical communicators is responsible for documenting Oracle’s flagship products “Oracle Cloud” and “Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud”. He is a certified Exalogic Elastic Cloud implementation specialist. Kumar Dhanagopal has worked as a consulting project lead for documentation with Oracle India. Over the past 13 years, he has delivered technical documentation for a range of products — thin clients, communication protocols, Ethernet switches, CRM applications, middleware, and data center platforms. Many of the projects on which he worked, required extensive research, in-depth discussions with subject-matter experts,and multiple tech reviews—both informal and structured.
Lakshmi Jois is Information Architect at Unisys Global Services India in the Information Development organization. She was a key member of the Vision team, contributing to the core ideas, and has been leading the content team for this initiative. Latha S has 18 years of experience in the IT industry, of which 16 years is of technical writing. For the past seven years,she has been managing technical documentation teams with a strong record of driving results through focus on customer satisfaction, team, organization goals, and business priorities. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute. She is a proven leader with strong technical,organizational, and analytical, problem-solving skills. Her areas of interest include technical publications management, vendor management, risk management, strategic planning, project management, process improvement, staff development, usability, coaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing. She has set up documentation teams and sustained winning teams in various organizations with tremendous results.
Mayur Agrawal works as a Senior Technical Writer and has six and a half years of experience in technical writing. He is a post-graduate in computer science from Latrobe University, Australia.He joined TIBCO’s Journey to DITA from the “Train the Trainer” program. As a member of DITA Committee, he was involved in the performance and functional testing of DITA and CMS implementation. He has also been conducting training sessions for TIBCO Pune writers. Mugdha Kulkarni has over 14 years of writing experience, of which more than 10 years has been as a technical writer, and three and a half years as a copywriter in advertising and multi-media.Her exposure to writing and editing includes various industry verticals, such as Telecommunications, Databases, Supply Chain, Enterprise Applications, Storage, Finance, Barcode Technology, Auto-Leasing, Heavy Engineering, Clinical Research & Statistics, and so on. She has expertise in developing various types of documentation deliverables for varied target audience, such as architects, administrators, programmers, analysts, and users. She has been passionately learning, implementing, and advocating minimalism for the last five years.
Namrata Havaldar is a post graduate in Communications with over two years of Technical Writing experience. Currently, she is working with Alcatel-Lucent Pvt. Ltd. She has worked with Cognizant Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd., and as a Strategy Executive and Copy Writer with People Design and Communication, a Bangalore based advertising agency. Nilam Shendye has more than four years of experience as a Technical Communicator. She is presently working with RedHat as a Technical Writer and documents the Jboss Middleware Product chain of Red Hat. She has contributed towards OpenSource documentation using Publican and DocBook XML. She has worked on a variety of Documentation projects during her past tenure with Techno writes. She has a keen interest in learning new as well as ancient languages and exhibits a flair for German and Sanskrit.
Pradeep Venkateshlu has around 11 years of technical writing experience of enterprise-level documentation. Currently, he is working for HP as an expert writer and has been closely involved in working on the use case work stream. He wants to share his experience working for the use case team and some of the significant learning and recommendations of the team. Prasad Tadas is a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E. Computer Science) degree holder and a Certified Information Mapping Specialist. He is currently working as Technical Publications Engineer with Juniper Networks CoreBusiness Unit’s Information Experience team and co-owner of the Network Interfaces Documentation Suite. Prasad is also a Tech lead for T Series core router software documentation.
Prasad has been in the field of Technical Writing for close to 10 years and his experiences include authoring networking documentation that includes Core Routing, Wireless LAN, Mobile Handset Applications, and Managed Services solution. He was responsible for setting up continuous integration (CI) system in the Huawei A&S India documentation team. Prasad has also worked on setting up a domain specific customized deliverables knowledge points for Huawei India A&S division.
Rajshree is the founder of TechWritingLabs, a technical content development company that he started in 2008. She holds an MS in Finance and has over 12 years of industry experience working with MNCs, mid-sized organizations, and startups. Apart from handling her young firm, she also takes classes on technical writing for undergraduate students as a guest lecturer at a reputed college. This session would draw from her personal experiences as she gave up an employment opportunity with a top MNC to become a freelance writer and went on to set up her own boutique content-development firm. Samartha Vashishtha is an Adobe-Certified expert in Site Catalyst Web analytics. He works as a Content and Community lead with Adobe Systems India. He is also a creative writer with two published anthologies of poems to his credit.
Venkatesh Prasad is an engineering graduate with five years of technical writing experience. Currently, he is working with Alcatel-Lucent Pvt. Ltd. He has worked with JDA Software Pvt. Ltd., and Sabre Travel Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Tamara Ferris is the Technical Publications Engineering manager with Juniper Networks, and heads their Junos OS documentation team in Bangalore. She has been in the field of technical communication for close to 15 years and her experience includes technical writing and documentation project management. Tamara has spent considerable time in designing multi-authored online user assistance systems. She has developed authoring strategies for documentation in Agile Development and Documentation Testing. She champions Documentation Usability Testing and Documentation Testing. She holds a master’s degree in Information Technology and a post graduate diploma in Business Management. She is also a Certified Usability Analyst from Human Factors International, USA. With a passion for online user assistance systems, she has written various articles and aligns her vision to customer-focused integration of information with the product.
Vikrant Rai is a Content lead with Adobe Systems India working for the Creative Cloud line of products and services. Besides work, he is interested in robotics, and these days, his favorite toy is an Arduino kit. Vikram Verma is a Product Manager at Adobe Systems, India where he manages the Technical Communication line of products. He is responsible for product strategy and roadmap, partner ecosystem management and customer relationships.Prior to Adobe, he worked as a strategy consultant at Religare Enterprises, where he led product management and analytics initiatives for Religare businesses. Earlier, he worked at Pramerica Mutual Fund, where he was responsible for developing quantitative stock investment models. He also worked as a software engineer at Samsung Electronics, India. He has an MBA from Indian School of Business and an Integrated M.Tech in Mathematics & Computing from IIT Delhi.
Paresh Naik is a Senior Manager in the Information Design and Development team at BMC Software, Pune. Previously, he has held leadership positions in Symphony services, Emptoris technologies, and IBM where he managed globally spread, multicultural technical publications and localization teams of different sizes. As a writer he has worked with several companies in Pune, Bangalore, and London. He also teaches Technical Writing to post-graduate students in the English Department at University of Pune. Vimal Chhutani started his career as a software developer more than 10 years ago. Later, he moved into the field of technical writing about six years ago. He serves as an individual contributor in creating and maintaining technical documentation for the project. He has expertise in RoboHelp, MS Word, SnagIt, and Photoshop. He likes photography and traveling and loves designing.Vimal is also a graphics designer and mostly designs using Photoshop. His graphics skills have won him the company-level logo design contest at ADP India that was held for the “Pehchaan” – company’s Associate Referral Program. The logo designed by him is now used in all types of communication by ADP India for its referral program. One of his designs for the company has also been published in the “Great Place To Work” study report. At ADP, he has been a core member of the Information Developers Interest Group and has been awarded twice in consecutive years for his significant contribution towards the Group.
Edwins Skau is the founder Director of Solutions by Design. He has logged over twenty years of accomplishments in the fields of publishing and technical communication. He draws on that rich expertise and experience in other domains to deliver solutions in Marketing Communications, Product Definition and Marketing Strategy, Content Strategy and Architecture, Recruitment, Training and Guided Deployment, Training, Workshops and Management Consultation on Employee Engagement and Productivity. Seema Gaurav works as a Technical Writer, Staff with TIBCO. In the past, she has worked as a writer for NIIT, Quark, and Symphony Services. In her 12 years of experience, she has catered to a wide range of audienceS – from novice users to programmers. Her experience includes writing for domains such as storage, master data management, security, and governance.She has been dabbling with DITA since the last two years, and she enjoys every moment of it. In her spare time, she is learning to play an African drum the Djembe, and listens to her favourite sitarist, Niladri Kumar.
